Since opening our doors in1980, MS&A has represented such stellar clients as Elizabeth Taylor, Lance Armstrong, Scott Hamilton, David Copperfield, Joan Collins, Alan Thicke, David Brenner, Andy Gibb (left) and Robert Goulet (below right)... to name but a few.

Sterling's introduction to public relations came in the 60's when he served as a junior publicist for the Los Angeles Music Center Operating Company which oversaw all productions at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Ahmanson Theatre and the Mark Taper Forum.

He was later invited to join the staff of Rogers & Cowan, Inc., the world's largest public relations company. Examples of his entertainment clients read like a Who's Who in Music and included Donny and Marie Osmond (below left), and the Osmond Brothers, the Bee Gees, Richard and Karen Carpenter, Ray Price, Ann-Margret, Elliott Gould, John Denver, Mama "Cass" Elliot, Joan Rivers, Jim Croce, The Fifth Dimension,  Mac Davis and George Harrison.

MS&A has also represented numerous national theatre and arena tours, Los Angeles theatre productions, Emmy Award-winning television specials, celebrity books, DVD's, CD's and albums such as Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager's classic concept album Sometimes Late at Night.   Aside from his day to day involvement in MSA, Mr. Sterling is also a successful director of musical theatre and concert acts in Los Angeles and has produced and/or directed various theatrical events and productions throughout Southern California and Las Vegas.

Corporate accounts included Avon Cosmetics, Vivian Woodard Cosmetics, Ralston-Purina, and Stutz Bearcat (the world's first $100,000 convertible.)

On June 9, 2006, Michael Sterling and co-producer  Tony Monsour opened Sterling's Upstairs at Vitello's in Studio City, single handedly bringing back to LA an art form that had all but disappeared from the city by 2004. On a mission to  presenting the best of Broadway stars, regional Broadway performers, and Nightclub artists in concert, Mr. Sterling dedicated the club to his longtime friend and mentor, the great Rosemary Clooney (directly below).

Having road managed Ms. Clooney, it was the world renowned singer to whom he made a promise to one day open a venue that would keep her kind of music... the music of Broadway and the Great American Songbook.... alive for future generations patrons of the arts to enjoy. Holding true to that promise,  Sterling's Upstairs became the most critically acclaimed, award winning supper club of its kind in the greater Los Angeles area and has been recognized with numerous honors including the 2008 - 2011 Readers Choice Awards for Best Live Entertainment by readers of the Los Angeles Daily News; and has been an annual top five winner on My Fox LA TV's Best of LA "Hot List" since 2007.  As part of the cultural landscape of Southern California, the Los Angeles Times dubbed Sterling's  "LA's cabaret destination", along with LA Weekly's praise as one of the tp 5 Supper Clubs in Los Angeles.  Since its inception, over 600 headlining acts and 750 performers have appeared on its now famous stage.

On March 18, 2012, Sterling's Upstairs closed its doors at Vitello's, only to reopen on April 1st as an all new, state-of-the-art supper club at The Federal Restaurant in North Hollywood's prestigious and trendy NoHo Arts Disctrict, home to the Television Academy of    Arts and Sciences, The California Arts Institute, the historic El Portal Theatre, and numerous other theatres and live arts venues.

Broadway, film, TV, concert and recording star Lainie Kazan headlined the Grand Opening of Sterlng's Upstairs at The Federal in  Take Me Along: The Songs of Bob Merrill (written, directed and produced by Bruce Kimmel CEO of Kritzerland Records).  The show also featured  a cast of five including Broadway's Melody Hollis and Kristofer McNeeley, Julie Garnye, Juliana Hansen and Jeffrey Christopher Todd.  Since then, such stars as Broadway's Ramin Karimloo, Euan Morton, Liza Minelli, Allison Janney, John Lloyd Young, Rachel York, Hal Linden, Faith Prince and a host of others have taken center stage at Sterling's Upstairs.

On January 7, 2009, in association with Lance Sterling - Managing Partner of The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, CA, - Michael Sterling was invited to replicate his  success at Sterling's Upstairs by creating Broadway in Concert! at The Canyon, a first-ever series of intimate concerts at this legendary west San Fernando Valley supper club.

One of the most successful venues in the country, The Canyon is a leading presenter of top name pop, rock, country, and comedy acts.  Eclectic in style and design, the club seats just over 500 guests at tables and features exquisite dining - coupled with performances by a vast array of headliners including Michael McDonald, Pat Benatar, Judy Collins, Neil Young, Willie Nelson, The Smothers Brothers, Jon Lovitz, Don Rickles ... and many more.  MSA's foray into presenting the music of Broadway and the Great American Songbook performed by top tier Broadway musical theatre stars, was embraced by audiences and media alike during its special four-month engagement.

Since 2007, Michael Sterling & Associates has produced LA's Next Great Stage Star, an original production concept that has since become the most prestigious "musical theatre" talent competition on the west coast. Judged by a live audience and an elite panel of over a two dozen musical theatre Producers, Artistic Producers, Directors, Casting Directors and Equity Theatrical Agents for six consecutive weeks, the American Idol-type competition, has launched and/or accelerated the careers of not only its 9 title winners and top  finalists (to date), but 50% of all its contestants.  Out of an overall 180 contestants since 2007, 13  have already made their Broadway debuts; with another 88 now working professionally in U.S. National Tours; regional musical theatre throughout the United States; in Broadway production shows at hotels in Las Vegas and on board some of the world's most luxurious cruise lines; in international theme parks such as Disney Resorts in Anaheim, CA and Tokyo, Japan; and in prime network episodic television.
